Nickerson Will Participate in Relay for Life of Torrance
Nickerson Insurance is proud to participate in the Relay for Life events on April 25th in Torrance, California. Relay for Life was started in the United States in 1985 by Dr. Gordy Klatt. As a colorectal surgeon, Dr. Klatt wanted to raise funds for his local cancer charity as well as awareness for cancer in general. He raised over $27,000 during a 24-hour period, which was spent walking on a track. Today, Relay for Life is the largest fundraising event for cancer worldwide. People gather together to eradicate cancer, engaging in various activities while celebrating survivors and those who have passed. The proceeds from Relay for Life are donated to the American Cancer Society.
Why Does Nickerson Relay?
Whether we realize it or not, cancer affects all of us, which is why it must be stopped. The Nickerson team wants to help make a difference and support a cause that is so near and dear to our hearts. The proceeds from Relay for Life events help further cancer research as well as other ACS-Sponsored programs. Our team of curesadors are excited to walk the track and fundraise for those who have lost their lives to cancer, survived cancer, and for those who have acted as great support systems and caregivers.
